Summary
On Tuesday evening, as wildfires kicked up across the state of Oregon, protesters marched from Waterfront Park to the TriMet transit police offices in Old Town. They were blocked at several points by police lines, and marchers diverted around them, then decided to march to the Central police precinct. Next they moved to City Hall nearby, dancing and some freestyle rap, before being dispersed again. Arrests happened at several points during the march and dispersals, including that of a reporter, and one arrest that led to a medical emergency for the protester (graphic video is marked below). Many protesters left after this disturbing arrest, and the night ended with no other significant activities.
Scheduled Events
Waterfront Park Direct Action March – 8 PM
Timeline
Protesters are gathered in Waterfront Park, near the Burnside Bridge. Smoke has returned, this time from wildfires to the south of us near Salem and Woodburn.
The downtown protest kicks off in this public square. Although there’s video of a dumpster fire floating around with an implication that these protesters are responsible, it should be noted that fire is happening several blocks from here, under the Morrison bridge. pic.twitter.com/3ucICo2Rye

The aim of the march was to demonstrate in front of the transit police office. But the protesters, being blocked from it, turned onto SW 2nd instead and walked north to Everett. They double back to SW 1st and Everett, unfortunately this whole scene is blocking a Blue MAX train.

A line of Portland Police officers have just blocked the path of the protest March. There is a standstill currently. There was an announcement on the LRAD, but it was not intelligible. #PortlandProtests #PDXprotests #BlackLivesMatter pic.twitter.com/JXbHXEoIAV

Protesters stop and discuss what they want to do next. Some want to march to the Justice Center. Some want to go back to the transit police office. LRAD shows up and tell protesters to get out of the road or risk “arrest or use of force.”

Haven’t seen any snack vans tonight, but this well lit wagon is holding down mutual aid on the go.

Up ahead police look to intercept the protest but the crowd takes a left. pic.twitter.com/H7EcPKz983
Protesters marching around the officers on SW 2nd. This seems plenty annoying without warranting use of force but I’m not sure how all the people living in tents feel about this jaunty song about horse cock that the protesters love.
